Round 16 provided 3 very nice wins for Boro, and some performances that came so very close too.
Team#1 trailed Northcote Park by a few goals for most of the game with long passing that was easy to pick off. Then Team#1 went back to basics with a short game in the last quarter to storm home with 8 of the last 10 goals and win by 2 in a thriller. Go Boro !!!
Team#2 with hopes of a 3rd position season finish, were challenged by Nth Heidelberg B. Team#2 just didn’t get started with poor passing choices being the main issue. After hanging on to a deficit of several goals until 3-quarter time, Team#2 tapered off to lose by 9 goals.
Team#3 had a slow start for the first quarter against Montmorency B, then put together a strong performance controlling the game with few errors. The team’s hard work was rewarded with a fine exhibition of goaling. A convincing 14 goal win by Team#3. Go Boro !!!
Team#4 needed a win against Lalor Football Club to keep their finals chances alive. It was a very competitive seesawing battle with the lead changing 7 times. Just a handful too many turnovers and lack of defensive pressure in the second quarter was decisive, and Team#4 lost by 2 goal loss after breaking even in the final minutes.
In the hunt for 2nd position, Team#5 was given a big fright by Whittlesea C. After giving up a massive amount of turnovers in the first half, Team#5 put together a second half resurgence playing in front, making strong drives and better communication to create an 8 goal win. Go Boro !!!
Team#6 were very competitive against Thomastown B who are pressing for a finals berth. After an untidy first quarter, Team#6 then picked up their game but without solid defensive pressure were unable to close the gap. A very strong finish with the last 4 goals of the game just wasn’t enough, but this 3 goal loss was a tremendous effort.
