Round 5 GNC report

T5 Rd4 markGreensborough Netball Club has expanded to 6 teams with a new team in the recently opened Section 6. No other club has a team in each section!

For round 5… Team#1 had our closest game with the lead changing several times. A last minute flurry of goals by Team#1 just wasn’t enough to close the gap against Bundoora Comets A, resulting in a very narrow 3 goal loss.

Team#2 fought hard to draw level on four occasions during the game, but near perfect shooting accuracy in the last quarter wasn’t enough to prevent an 8 goal loss against Heidelberg Tigers.

Team#3 had a BYE.

Team#4 started well and held the lead for most of the first quarter, but just one missed goal by Watsonia B in the second half allowed them to build a large lead. Strong resistance by Team#4 in the last quarter couldn’t prevent a loss but kept the margin down to 18 goals.

Team#5 was very competitive, and went out to a 6 goal lead in the first half, but was chased down by St Mary’s B before half time. Team#5 was able to grab back some of the momentum in the last quarter and avoid an overwhelming loss to end just 11 goals down.

Team#6 began very well but then trailed by a few goals in the first quarter and eventually down by the biggest margin of 11 goals at half time. The players worked extremely hard in the second half to recover end on a high and to lose by just 5 goals. Unfortunately, no wins for the round.

MVPs: Team#1 – Andrea Casey, Team#2 – Dannielle Davidson, Team#3 – n/a bye, Team#4 – Eilish Flagg, Team#5 – Rachael Wright – Aka Millie, Team#6 – Laura Gibbs.
