Are you interested in playing at Greensborough Netball Club in 2016? Pre-season training commences on Wednesday 3rd February 2016 at St Helena Secondary College, 8-9:30pm and the season commences in April on Friday nights.
Greensborough won the section four premiership in 2015 and the section two premiership in 2014 and we look forward to continue building our wonderful club. We are tightly aligned with our football club who over the last two years have also won multiple premierships in 2015 and 2015 in Division One of the Northern Football League.

Congrats to the boys who finished first in the NFL division one seniors, reserves and under 19’s at the completion of their home and away season.
Last Friday saw the netballers finish off the 2015 home and away season and kick off finals for team 4. Boro has never had 75% of our teams make finals before, this is a huge testament to our fantastic players and wonderful coaches. Final standings:
Boro 1 – finished third in section one
Boro 2 – finished sixth in section two
Boro 3 – finished second in section four
Boro 4 – finished second in section seven

Greensborough 1 are currently sitting in third position of the section one ladder. Greensborough 3 are sitting top of the section four ladder and Greensborough 4 are top of the section seven ladder.
Only five games to go till NNL season 2015 finals.
All Boro players and coaches were asked to make a $5 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) upon entry and raffle tickets were sold to raise additional funds. All funds that were raised have been donated directly to the NBCF, with the current total at $236 (correct as of 08/07/2015).

The night commenced with a talk on sports nutrition by Boro’s own Team One Captain, Bianca who has recently completed her nutrition studies. Bianca spoke about the importance of fueling your body prior & post games/training, and the right combinations of fuel and hydration.
Boro’s favourite Physio, Julz Allan from Alphington Sports Medicine and the Athlete Advantage was also in attendance, taking each team through crucial exercises for Netball, including core strength, landing and balance drills. Alphington Sports Medicine provides 10% off for all NFL and NNL players as well as a vital concussion service on the weekends.
Ebony Korkie, Boro’s Myotherapist from Untangled Living located at Rivers of Yarrambat, took each team through a session of using foam rollers and the general importance of looking after your body pre & post netball.

We are well into the NNL season and Boro played four games last Friday night and won all four. The ladders:

This coming Friday night is the inter-league game v Southern Football Netball League at Parade College from 7pm. Boro has one coach and five representative players (out of a squad of 20).

Greensborough 1 had a tough game against West Preston Lakeside FC that resulted in a rare section 1 draw at RMIT.
Greensborough 4 played Whittlesea Football & Netball Club at Morang South Primary and after a fairly even first half, stormed home with a solid 31-22 win.
Greensborough 3 played the 9.45pm match against Whittlesea. Last time these teams met the game resulted in a draw – 23 all. In round 7 however, Boro kept working in a higher scoring game and took the win, 33-28.
Greensborough 2 had the bye in round seven.

Boro’s four teams took the court last Friday night at Parade College, RMIT Bundoora and Loyola College for the NNL’s round five.
GNC 1 took on Northcote Park in the section one clash. Northcote Park got the jump on Boro early in the first quarter and were seven goals up at one point. During the second and third quarters Boro worked tirelessly to bring back the score and jumped ahead by the three quarter time break. The last quarter was tightly contested but Boro eventually coming out on top with a two goal thriller.
A new look GNC 2 took on Diamond Creek in the section two clash and had a percentage boosting win by 12 goals at RMIT. Congratulations girls on a solid win!
GNC 4 had an epic game against Epping which ended in a 24 all draw. A great effort by our section seven team with some key position players out with injuries.
GNC 3 faced West Preston Lakeside who after grading came down from section three into section four. GNC 3 to date has had a draw, one goal loss, three goal loss and a three goal win. The first quarter the girls came out of the blocks strongly and played a solid team game full of rebounds, strong passes and accurate shooting. The girls continued to build on their lead throughout the game and at the final siren defeated West Preston Lakeside, 34-19.
The three wins and the draw look to keep all Boro teams firmly cemented in the top four of each of our respective sections.

The Boro boys who recorded three solid wins over North Heidelberg this weekend. Game results are:
- Seniors: Boro 22-20-152 to North Heidelberg 7-1-43
- Reserves: Boro 27-14-181 to North Heidelberg 2-5-17
- Under 19’s: Boro 41-21-267 to North Heidelberg 0-0-0
NNL Round six game times and venues will be posted once the fixture had been completed.
The four grading rounds of the Northern Netball League is now complete.
Last Friday night proved to be Boro’s toughest with only our section four team having a win. Greensborough 3 fought off a big comeback from Watsonia 2 to win the game by three goals at Morang South.
The current ladders:
- Greensborough 1 is second on the section one ladder with 104%
- Greensborough 2 is fourth on the section two ladder with 152%
- Greensborough 3 is fourth on the section four ladder with 98%
- Greensborough 4 is third on the section seven ladder with 127%
A great start to the season but still plenty of work to do.
This week is round 4 and the last round of grading. Game times are:
