Boro raises funds for the NBCF

nbcf--logoLast Wednesday, the Greensborough Netball Club held a Health and Well-being night in place of our usual netball training session.

All Boro players and coaches were asked to make a $5 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) upon entry and raffle tickets were sold to raise additional funds.  All funds that were raised have been donated directly to the NBCF, with the current total at $236 (correct as of 08/07/2015).

If you would like to donate, please do so via NBCF Go Fundraise GNC.

The night commenced with a talk on sports nutrition by Boro’s own Team One Captain, Bianca who has recently completed her nutrition studies.  Bianca spoke about the importance of fueling your body prior & post games/training, and the right combinations of fuel and hydration.

Boro’s favourite Physio, Julz Allan from Alphington Sports Medicine and the Athlete Advantage was also in attendance, taking each team through crucial exercises for Netball, including core strength, landing and balance drills.  Alphington Sports Medicine provides 10% off for all NFL and NNL players as well as a vital concussion service on the weekends.

Ebony Korkie, Boro’s Myotherapist from Untangled Living located at Rivers of Yarrambat, took each team through a session of using foam rollers and the general importance of looking after your body pre & post netball.

The event was fantastic and Boro would like to thank our sponsors for the night, who graciously donated prizes for the raffle:

NBCF-thankyou

Boro Bits – Round 9

GNC Team 4 shooterWas great to see the masses of green last Friday with all games at RMIT Bundoora and the girls showing their support to one another.

We had our two division five Boro teams play off against each other which ended up with our team 4 having a great win in the local derby!

Boro teams 2, 4 and 5 are well placed on their respective ladders as we come to the halfway point of the NNL season. Teams 1 and 3 still have a fighting chance but need to get some big wins on the board.

Round 10 games for this Friday 27 June.

  • 7:45PM – Greensborough 3 v Epping at RMIT Bundoora Court 3
  • 8:30PM – Bundoora Comets 4 v Greensborough 4 at Epping Leisure City
  • 8:30PM – Greensborough 5 v Lalor 5 at RMIT Bundoora Court 2
  • 9:30PM – Greensborough 1 v Whittlesea 1 at RMIT Bundoora Court 1
  • Note – GNC team 2 has a BYE this round

The Boro Ball was a great night at a beautiful CBD venue. The girls enjoyed the chance to swap their netball uniforms for cocktail dresses and dancing shoes. A big thank you to Paula and Tracey for organising such an enjoyable event.

Next up, we have our Linen House Day coming up with huge savings so keep an eye out for more details on Facebook and our websites.

Boro Bits – Round 6

GNC BBQ May 2014A better round this week with two wins and two close loses and a bye. The only way from here is up! It’s great to see girls are enjoying themselves at training and on the court! It’s also great to see the footy boys are on a winning streak – Go Boro!!!

Big thanks to the Netty girls who showed some support to the footy club by attending Mr Boro on Saturday night and from all reports the girls had a great night! Also a big thank you to all the girls who volunteered their Sunday to help at the Bunnings BBQ. We had a really successful day and it’s so good to see the girls supporting their club.

Game times for this Friday night’s games will be posted on the NNL website mid week and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @GreensboroughNC

Boro Bits – Round 5

T4 Rd 5 2014Round 5 of the NNL was not what the club expected with three losses, one bye and just the one win last Friday night. Of note, GNC team 2 had a solid win against Lalor which now elevates the team to second spot on the division two ladder and the girls are looking hot to trot and only 1 win off the top spot! Games for Round 6 this Friday night:

9:30PM Bundoora Comets 1 v Greensborough 1 at RMIT Bundoora Court 1
8:30PM Watsonia 1 v Greensborough 2 at RMIT Bundoora Court 2
7:00PM Greensborough 3 v Mernda at RMIT Bundoora Court 2
BYE – Greensborough 4
8:30PM Thomastown 3 v Greensborough 5 at Parade College

Would be great to see some of the footy boys come down and support the girls this week!

Upcoming this weekend is the GFNC Mr Boro on Saturday night with the netball girls securing two tables to this annual event! Sunday 25th May is a Netball fundraising BBQ at Bunnings Thomastown from 9am. If you are in the area, please stop by and support the club!
